WNBA President Lisa Borders Discusses Challenge Of New Role

New WNBA President Lisa Borders appeared on ESPN this afternoon, and the net’s Cari Champion asked Borders how she would be able to “change things around right off the bat?” Borders said, “Right out of the gate, we understand that a lot of work has been done. I salute my predecessors who have left some indelible fingerprints on the league, but I think we have an opportunity to listen to every one of our constituencies, understand what we’ve accomplished and leverage that and make a vision for the future together.”

Borders: “I’ve had the privilege to work in all three sectors – public, private and nonprofit – and I hope to bring all the skills that I have learned over the years to bear at the (WNBA). This particular opportunity is really at the intersection of what I would call my passion, my purpose and my performance. I am the No. 1 fan for the league” (“SportsCenter,” ESPN, 2/10).
