Homestead-Miami Sponsor Activation Strong For NASCAR Weekend

Homestead-Miami Speedway VP/Sales & Marketing Shawn McGee last night said that while corporate support from NASCAR sponsors has been strong for this weekend's NASCAR national-series season finales, particularly from Ford, which entitles this weekend’s Ford Championship Weekend, the track has also made considerable inroads in attracting local, regional and national support from companies who may not even be involved in the sport. “We’ve really worked hard over the last couple years and created an (internal) tagline called ‘Get Local.’ ... It’s been beneficial for us.” He cited a local Budweiser distributor as an example.

Ford will have about 12 displays throughout HMS, including a massive one on the midway that’s larger than a football field, McGee said. McGee said that so many brands wanted to activate at the event, it had to move some to outside the track on Speedway Boulevard, and even turned away a few altogether. Activating brands include Visit Florida, Florida Lottery and the Air Force. Meanwhile, despite the fact that they have sold out two years in a row, McGee said track execs are wary of raising prices for next year, lest they start to price out fans.
