FSTA Begins Grassroots Effort To Gain Political Support For Fantasy

The Fantasy Sports Trade Association has begun a grassroots lobbying effort aimed at boosting political support for paid fantasy games. A new advocacy website, fantasysportsforall.com, contains an online petition and pre-written letter of support for fantasy sports that is automatically routed to state and federal legislators based on users' zip code inputs. The initiative, mirroring similar advocacy moves by individual companies such as DraftKings and others, is a response to mounting political pressure against daily fantasy sports and paid fantasy sports at large.

"We are in the midst of a critical time for our industry," said FSTA President Paul Charchian in a letter sent to FSTA member companies, encouraging them to distribute information about the new site to their customers. "State governments are increasing their scrutiny of our paid fantasy sports operators, and some are taking steps to radically change fantasy sports via taxation, regulation and more. … Our customers want to be heard. But until now, they have been voiceless."
