Amarillo Voters Asked To Decide Fate Of Minor League Ballpark

Voters in Amarillo, Texas, today are being asked to decide the fate of a $32M ballpark project that would house the independent American Association Amarillo Thunderheads, who currently play out of Potter County Memorial Stadium. Vote For Amarillo, an organization supporting the effort, spent $34,980 to advertise on local affiliates, according to documents filed by the group with the FCC. Of that spending, 40% was earmarked for sports broadcasts.

The most expensive sports spot ($3,000) was for a 30-second spot during the Oct. 4 Cowboys-Saints “SNF” telecast on KAMR-NBC. The lower end of the spending has been $275 for a 30-second spot during several of KFDA-CBS’ Saturday afternoon college football games. No organization aired any ads in Amarillo opposing the construction plans.
