Report: Univ. Of Texas, Nike Extend Apparel Deal By 15 Years

The Univ. of Texas reportedly has reached a 15-year extension with Nike that is "expected to be the richest shoe and apparel deal in college sports." The annual total is unknown, but a source said it is “higher than Michigan,” which signed a 15-year deal with Nike this summer worth an estimated $169M. CLC rankings indicate Texas has been the "No. 1 seller of T-shirts, hats and other merchandise for nine straight years." It was "believed UT officials wanted to stick with Nike after the abrupt firing" of former men's AD Steve Patterson (HOOKEM.com, 10/21).
