LSU-South Carolina Could Be Moved In Wake Of Historic Flooding

Univ. of South Carolina officials are "not yet able to say they'll be able to host" Saturday's game against LSU at Williams-Brice Stadium in the wake of this week's flooding. South Carolina AD Ray Tanner said, "We are not 100 percent sure at this time that we will have a game at Williams-Brice." Tanner has "spoken with LSU officials about the possibility" of playing the game in Baton Rouge. He "hopes the school will be able to make a final decision in 'the next 24-36 hours'" (THESTATE.com, 10/6).

Nissan has postponed plans to unveil its 100-school multimedia rights sponsorship this weekend because of the flooding. The original plan called for Nissan to launch the mega sponsorship this weekend at the LSU-South Carolina game, where Nissan also would have had its Heisman House on display. But the automaker notified the university that it has decided not to activate in Columbia. The Heisman House’s next planned stop is Penn State-Ohio State on Oct. 17 in Columbus (Michael Smith, Staff Writer).

Meanwhile, MiLB and South Carolina-based minor league teams the Charleston RiverDogs, Columbia Fireflies, Greenville Drive, Myrtle Beach Pelicans today donated a total of $12,500 ($2,500 each) to a GoFundMe account to help recovery efforts. All four of the clubs reported no damage to their respective ballparks (David Broughton, Research Dir).
