NFL To Hold Special Owners Meeting On L.A. Stadium Situation

The NFL has set a special owners meeting on L.A. for Aug. 11. The purpose of the meeting, in part, is to update owners on the status of the St. Louis stadium project, which may at that time be far enough along for owners to consider. Rams Owner Stan Kroenke is proposing a new stadium in Inglewood, Calif., but the league’s relocation bylaws require him to negotiate in good faith before relocating. Owners also will get an update on local efforts in San Diego and Oakland. The Chargers and Raiders both describe their proposed stadium in Carson, Calif., as a fallback plan in the event stadium talks falter in their home markets.

The August meeting is in Chicago. Next week, the NFL L.A. owners committee meets in N.Y., with the three teams in play expected to be present.
