Closing Bell

Complex Deal For Chargers/Raiders Carson Stadium Land Closes

The "complex land deal" for the proposed Chargers/Raiders stadium in Carson, Calif., closed today "after months of closed-door negotiations." The deed for 157 acres transferred from Carson Marketplace to a "joint powers authority controlled by Carson." Chargers Special Counsel Mark Fabiani said that Carson "would retain control" of the 157 acres if the $1.7B stadium "isn't built" (LATIMES.com, 5/19). The land deal is a "model similar to one used" by the 49ers for Levi's Stadium (AP, 5/19).
