NFLPA Committee Suspends Agent Vinnie Porter's Certification

The NFLPA’s Committee on Agent Regulation & Discipline has suspended agent Vinnie Porter’s certification to represent NFL players in contract talks with clubs, NFLPA Assistant Exec Dir of External Affairs George Atallah confirmed today. As previously reported, Porter, who represented about seven NFL players, has been charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud by the U.S. Attorney in San Diego. Prosecutors allege that Porter, and financial adviser Joseph Vaccaro, were involved in a scheme to defraud potential investors in Burger King restaurants.

Atallah said in an e-mail that the CARD committee suspended Porter as of Friday. “He was suspended for his criminal charges of defrauding his clients, which have been widely reported,” Atallah wrote. “His suspension is effective through the resolution of the criminal complaints against him. We will also investigate the matter ourselves.” Porter’s attorney, Gary Lincenberg, declined comment on Porter's suspension by the NFLPA.
