NHL Sponsors Expect Jersey Ads During World Cup Of Hockey

NHL sponsors say that they "expect the league to use next year's World Cup of Hockey to trial on-uniform advertising." NHL COO John Collins said that it was "premature to say whether the league would sell on-jersey ads," while NHLPA Communications Dir Jonathan Weatherdon confirmed that the union "would consider jersey ads." NHL officials have previously said that they "would prefer not to be the first major league in North America to feature on-uniform ads" (TSN.ca, 1/29).

The Fourth Period's Patrick Kearns ‏tweeted, "Ads on jersey's are whatever. Everything else is already on ad. Yr fave team is a business. That sacred logo is an ad."
