Proposed Open-Air NFL Stadium In St. Louis Would Seat 64,000

The task force appointed by Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon Friday afternoon unveiled initial plans for an NFL stadium proposed for St. Louis’ north riverfront. The facility’s estimated cost would be $860-985M with a target opening of '20 pending financing, according to task force co-heads Bob Blitz and Dave Peacock. St. Louis-based HOK and 360 Architecture prepared stadium images of a 64,000-seat facility with 7,500 club seats, 60 loge boxes and an undetermined number of suites. Capacity for MLS games would be 30,000 seats restricted to the lower bowl (Don Muret, Staff Writer).

Peacock said that financing "would involve public and private money, as well as seat licenses." Nixon appointed Peacock and Blitz to "develop a plan to keep professional football in St. Louis" with the long-term status of the Rams in question (STLTODAY.com, 1/9).
