Aspen Could Lose '17 FIS Event Due To Condition Of Chairlift

Int'l Ski Federation (FIS) officials have suggested that Aspen "may risk losing" the '17 FIS World Cup Finals "unless Lift 1A is replaced." Aspen Skiing Co. officials "maintain that they were awarded the finals based upon the as-is condition of the base area, including the 42-year-old chairlift." SkiCo VP/Sales & Events John Rigney said that the "lift issue has been a topic of discussion 'off and on for years,' but he didn't believe it posed an immediate threat" (ASPENDAILYNEWS.com, 12/17).
