Bills Look To Clear Snow From Stadium Ahead Of Sunday's Game

The Bills are "facing an enormous challenge to clear snow from in and around Ralph Wilson Stadium" ahead of Sunday's scheduled 1:00pm ET game against the Jets. The team is trying to remove an estimated 220,000 tons of snow. There has been "speculation that the NFL might move Sunday's game to Monday night," but "no such decision has been made" (BUFFALONEWS.com, 11/19). The Bills on their Twitter feed sent out a call for shovelers, offering "$10/hour + game tickets." They also tweeted that coach Doug Marrone and his staff "plan to sleep at the team facility" (TWITTER.com, 11/19).

Meanwhile, tonight's Kent State-Univ. at Buffalo football game "is still on." KSU AD Joel Nielsen said, "It will be a go, no matter what." There are "still some loose ends to tie together," such as ensuring the presence of game officials and the ESPNU broadcast crew. Nielsen: "I think ESPN is getting their people there" (CLEVELAND.com, 11/19).

After this season, the team and the station will announce more details of the agreement, including a broadcast schedule, on-air talent for the Browns shows and opportunities for fan engagement (Browns). Bengals Extend Radio Rights Deal With Three Area Stations

The Bengals have agreed to extend their local radio broadcast deal for five more years. Three area stations – WLW-AM, WCKY-AM and WEBN-FM – "will continue to broadcast the games through the 2019 season," as they have for the past five seasons. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. iHeartMedia, which owns 50,000-watt stations WLW and WCKY, "clearly wanted to keep the games." WLW is the Reds' flagship and "carries Bengals games when they don't conflict" with its MLB schedule (BIZJOURNALS.com, 11/19).

NFL Concussion Case: Lawyers Blast Settlement For Not Covering CTE

By Daniel Kaplan

Lawyers for retirees objecting to the preliminary settlement of concussion claims against the NFL blasted the deal today in federal court for not covering CTE. Counsel for the deal said it covers symptoms of the disease. Steven Molo, who is repping players opposed to the settlement, argued “compensation for dementia does not equal compensation for CTE,” and asked Judge Anita Brody to reject the deal. Thomas Demetrio, who represents the estate of Dave Duerson, said, "Say what they will, CTE is real … and there are 20,000 potential people who suffer from it."

There are more than 22,000 potential class members. CTE, thought to be linked to blows to the head, can currently only be diagnosed postmortem. The settlement would cover those who died of the disease before July 7.

NCAA Men's Basketball Committee Could Release Mid-Season Rankings

The NCAA D-I men's basketball committee is "considering unveiling some early information of its own," similar to how the College Football Playoff releases rankings during the season. NCAA VP/Men's Basketball Championships Dan Gavitt said that "because the idea is still in a theoretical stage," he "hasn't talked to the tournament's television partners, CBS/Turner, and didn't suggest a specific time frame for the release" (USATODAY.com, 11/19).
