49ers Re-Sodding Levi's Stadium Field Ahead Of Sunday's Game

The grass at Levi's Stadium today was "torn up from goal line to goal line," and the team's "plan is to re-sod the field so it can provide solid enough footing" for Sunday's preseason game against the Chargers. 49ers officials "did not elaborate on what was planned" for the field after the team cut last night's practice short, but images from a news helicopter flying over the venue "provided the answer." The field is slated to host "a packed schedule of events leading up to the 49ers' regular-season opener Sept. 14" (CSNBAYAREA.com, 8/21).
