Jet Dryers Cause On-Track Incident At Texas Motor Speedway

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Duck Commander 500 began today after a one-day rain delay. The jet dryers "caused an incident during the opening 10 laps." As the drivers "came around to get a feel for the surface, the truck-mounted blowers caused the hoods on some cars ... to pop open." NASCAR "gave each driver the opportunity to pit and have all the hinges checked without losing starting position" (ESPNDALLAS.com, 4/7).

NASCAR's new Air Titan 2.0 drying system yesterday "almost proved equal to the morning and early afternoon deluge and damp atmospheric conditions that persisted throughout the day." NASCAR Manager of Track Infrastructure Jerry Kaproth said, "The Air Titan 2.0 performed as we expected. It enhanced what we were trying to accomplish. ... The difficulty was it continued to rain" (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 4/7).
