STP Inks Two-Year NASCAR Sponsorship Renewal With RPM

Longtime Richard Petty Motorsports sponsor STP has extended and expanded its sponsorship of the team, adding a second primary race on the team’s No. 43 NASCAR entry this year and signing a two-year renewal. STP, which is the title sponsor of this weekend’s Sprint Cup race at Martinsville Speedway, began working with Richard Petty 43 years ago. The brand is celebrating its 60th anniversary, and it credits its longtime relationship with Petty and the signature blue and red car he drove to more than 60 victories in NASCAR.

STP stopped fielding branded cars in NASCAR in '99 but returned as a sponsor of RPM’s No. 43 car driven by Aric Almirola in '11 with a one-race primary sponsorship. STP continued to have a personal service agreement with Petty between '99-'10 but had no relationship with the team. The extension it signed puts it on the No. 43 car this weekend in Martinsville and in August at Bristol Motor Speedway. The brand also will be an associate sponsor on the car all season.
