Projected Cost Of Falcons Stadium Increases By $200M To $1.2B

The Falcons today will inform a Georgia World Congress Center Authority committee that the budget for the new downtown stadium has grown to $1.2B, up $200M from the figure that has been "used as a ballpark estimate all year." The figures "do not change the amount of the taxpayer contribution" toward the stadium, with $200M of that cost to come from bonds backed by Atlanta’s hotel-motel tax. Of the remaining $1B, $200M is to come from NFL funding and $800M from a combination of team debt and equity and PSLs (AJC.com, 10/28).
