ESPN Creates New College Bowl Game In Montgomery, Alabama

ESPN today announced the creation of the Camellia Bowl, a postseason matchup between teams from the Sun Belt and MAC beginning December '14 in Montgomery, Ala., at the 25,000-seat Cramton Bowl. The game, named for a type of flower, will be played before Christmas each year. Former Troy Univ. AD Johnny Williams will be the bowl's Exec Dir. Williams' current firm – Creative Marketing Management – will handle the event (ESPN). Sources said the deal is for six years (AL.com, 8/19).

If it also "purchases the Heart of Dallas Bowl and creates the new game in Boca Raton, ESPN will then own 11 of the 31 non-College Football Playoff bowl games" starting in '14 (ESPN.com, 8/19).
