Fox Sports, Golden Boy Renew Deal, Bring Boxing To FS1

Fox Sports and Golden Boy Promotions today formally announced a multiyear extension of their media rights deal, which applies to both U.S. and int'l coverage of boxing events. The deal helps establish a new boxing franchise on the forthcoming FS1 channel. Fox Sports retains domestic rights to 48 two-hour events annually, each featuring two to three fights. FS1 is slated to air 24 events a year, with Fox Deportes to air all 48 events, up from 36 in the previous deal (Fox Sports Media Group).

Financial terms were not disclosed, but "the package's level of fights indicates rights fees in the range of $100,000 per show." Golden Boy "already has secured Corona as lead sponsor of the series, with a prime position on the ring mat and commercials airing during the broadcast" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 4/8 issue).
