Negotiators Expected To Keep Low Profiles During NHL Talks

The NHL and NHLPA resumed negotiations today at 3:00pm ET in an undisclosed location in the N.Y. area. Before the meeting, NHLPA Exec Dir Donald Fehr said, “I’m not going to prognosticate or predict. I hope we’ll start bargaining and continue bargaining.” Fehr set the tone for negotiations by saying about concessions earned by the NHLPA in the '05 CBA, “The players don’t see the need to go backwards.” Thirteen players, including Penguins C Sidney Crosby, have come to N.Y. to be available for meetings. NHL execs did not speak to the media before today’s session, and they are expecting to stay low-key publicly during any negotiations this week.
