Early Sales For "Madden NFL 13" Highest Ever On Current Consoles

The strong initial sales momentum for "Madden NFL 13" has continued as EA Sports today said it has sold more than 1.65 million units of the football video game between its Aug. 28 release and Sept. 3, up 8% compared to the initial week of retail release for last year's edition. The early sales total for "Madden" is the best yet for the current generation of HD video game consoles that includes the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

The full-week sales add to prior reports of day-one sales of 900,000 units, up 7% from last year. Additionally, online play for "Madden" during the initial week of release surpassed 24 million games played, a franchise record and up 31% from the comparable period in '11.
