Chevy Will Promote SS Model In NASCAR Sprint Cup Races In '13

Chevrolet today announced that it will showcase its SS model car in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in '13 "as the replacement for the Impala." The limited production version of the car will arrive in dealer showrooms in late '13 but will appear on the track starting with the '13 Daytona 500 "as NASCAR moves to new bodies for all of its Cup cars." The move "presents a change" in Chevy's NASCAR sponsorship philosophy, as the SS is "considered a niche, low-volume, high-performance vehicle" (SPORTINGNEWS.com, 5/17).
