NHL Arenas To Curtail Energy Use As Part Of Earth Hour On Saturday

The NHL will take part in the fifth annual Earth Hour from 8:30-9:30pm ET Saturday night, with a number of NHL arenas having "pledged their commitment" by "switching off non-essential lighting for one hour." Of the league's 30 teams, 20 "will be in action that night." Participating facilities, "including all of those hosting NHL games" as well as the league's HQs in N.Y., "will scale-back energy used in their operations during Earth Hour" (TORONTO STAR, 3/27).
