Baltimore Officials Approve Deal With IndyCar Race Promoter

Baltimore's Board of Estimates today voted 3-2 to "approve the city's contract with Downforce Racing to run the Baltimore Grand Prix for the next five years." The approval was "expected," as board members Solicitor George Nilson and Dir of Public Works Alfred Foxx were appointed by Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, who is "heavily in favor of the race" and also serves on the board. The two members of the board not appointed by the mayor, Comptroller Joan Pratt and City Council President Jack Young, both voted against the deal (BIZJOURNALS.com, 2/22).
