National Car Rental Announces Deal To Sponsor PGA Of America

National Car Rental today formally announced a deal to sponsor the PGA of America, making it an official partner and the official rental car of the organization. The deal also includes designation as the official rental car of the PGA Championship and Senior PGA Championship; an official partner of the '12 and '14 Ryder Cup; and title sponsor of the PGA Assistant Championship (PGA of America).

National’s three-year deal "will be the car rental company’s primary platform for what chief marketer Patrick Farrell described as a strong move into golf." Farrell: "This is going to be part of a heavy spend in the golf space with TV, digital and print components. We were looking for a property that spoke to a very specific and narrow audience – the business traveler." PGA sponsorships "go for about seven figures annually, according to industry insiders" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 1/23 issue).
