ESPN Exec Explains Reasons For "SportsCenter" Tebow Coverage

ESPN VP/Communications Mike Soltys said the idea of dedicating the 11:00am ET hour of “SportsCenter” this morning to Broncos QB Tim Tebow was to “bring a fresh approach to a very popular subject.” Tebow has been drawing headlines in sports pages across the country in advance of the Broncos’ AFC Divisional playoff game against the Patriots Saturday. ESPN last month devoted an hour to Tebow-mania, but Soltys said the net “felt the attention to the storyline made it worthwhile to do again.” He noted the program “was trending on Twitter the entire hour” (Katherine Zdrojeski, THE DAILY).

Meanwhile, FRS is launching a promotion around Tebow's endorsement, giving consumers a chance to win a free energy drink if the Broncos defeat the Patriots on Saturday. Beginning today at 6:00pm ET, fans will be able to register for the giveaway at FRS.com/americawinswithtebow. If the Broncos win, the first 100,000 customers to sign up will receive a certificate for a free bottle or can of FRS Healthy Energy at participating retailers. The company will offer a free sample regardless of the game's outcome (FRS).
