Dan Wheldon To Be Remembered With Funeral, Memorial, Tributes

A funeral for IndyCar driver Dan Wheldon will be held on Saturday in his adopted hometown of St. Petersburg at the First Presbyterian Church at 10:00am ET. Wheldon's family also "announced the establishment" of the Dan Wheldon Family Trust Fund (ST. PETERSBURG TIMES, 10/20). A public memorial service for Wheldon will be held Sunday at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The event "will be carried live on Versus" from 4:00-5:00pm ET (INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 10/20).

All NASCAR teams at this weekend's races at Talladega Superspeedway will have a B-post decal on their car that pays tribute to Wheldon. It features the "Lionheart" logo, a version of which Wheldon would wear on "all of his helmets." NASCAR will provide similar helmet stickers to its drivers. There will also be a "moment of silence to honor Wheldon before the invocations" of both the Sprint Cup Series and Camping World Truck Series events (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 10/20).
