Helfant Says ATP Opposed To Expanding U.S. Open To 15 Days

Outgoing ATP Exec Chair & President Adam Helfant said that the ATP World Tour is "opposed to extending the U.S. Open to fifteen days." This comes after the USTA on its website revealed that the U.S. Open "may become the first Grand Slam tournament to add one day to its schedule and switch permanently to a Monday finish." Helfant: "We are pleased the USTA is addressing as a priority the players' concerns about scheduling. ... However, we don't necessarily see how the right solution would be expanding the tournament. ... We continue to have very open conversations with the USTA" (BLOOMBERG NEWS, 10/21).
