Report: Penn National Gaming Wants Out Of Maryland Horse Tracks

Penn National Gaming is "seeking to unload" its 49% stake in Pimlico Race Course and Laurel Park, according to its partner in the tracks. Maryland Jockey Club President & COO Tom Chuckas today confirmed that Penn officials "had approached MI Developments recently on how the company could unwind its position in the tracks." Penn bought the stake in '10 "in the hopes of steering a casino license to Laurel" and as recently as late '10 said that it was "committed to its investment" (DRF.com, 3/15).
