TODAY’S ARTICLES OF INTEREST

The N.Y. TIMES’ Frank Rich writes of the controversial “MNF” intro featuring Terrell Owens and Nicollette Sheridan, “The hypocrisy embedded in this tale is becoming a national running gag. As in the Super Bowl brouhaha, in which the NFL maintained it had no idea that MTV might produce a racy halftime show, the league has denied any prior inkling of the salaciousness on tap this time – even though the spot featured the actress playing the sluttiest character in prime time's most libidinous series and was shot with the full permission of one of the league's teams in its own locker room” (N.Y. TIMES).

The S.F. CHRONICLE’s Scott Ostler writes, “We need to give the Olympics a home. We need to find a nice deserted island somewhere in the South Pacific and anchor the Olympics there. Call the place Olympicland. Build stadiums, arenas, hotels, restaurants, parks. Put up a Bourbon Street-type fun zone, a kiddie area, shopping. Olympicland would support itself just from the Games' visitors, but it could also be rented out for Super Bowls, World Cups and Tiger Woods' five-year anniversary party” (S.F. CHRONICLE).
