CHRONICLE).

TheSALT LAKE TRIBUNE’s Mike Gorrell writes, “Anoverriding ambition of the Olympic effort was to put Utah on the map, and touse that exposure to infuse life into the state’s economy.  The first half of that equation clearly wasrealized, especially in the view of ski industry and convention officials, twointended beneficiaries of playing host to the Games.  But two years after the 2002 Opening Ceremony, the Olympics havenot revitalized downtown Salt Lake City or convinced tourists an immediate tripto Utah is a must” (SALT LAKE TRIBUNE).
