DALE JARRETT TO RACE WITH ARNOLD PALMER PAINT SCHEME

UPS,Robert Yates Racing and Action Performance today announced details of across-sport collaboration between NASCAR driver Dale Jarrett and golfer ArnoldPalmer.  For the March 14 GoldenCorral 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Jarrett will drive the No. 88 UPS/ArnoldPalmer: Tribute to a Legend Ford, which will feature a special paintscheme.  Action Performance will producecommemorative die-cast replicas of the car (Action Performance).


SI.COM EDITORIAL OFFICE TO MOVE FROM ATLANTA TO N.Y. IN FEBRUARY

SportsIllustrated today announced that SI.com will move its editorial base ofoperations from CNN Center in Atlanta to the magazine’s HQs in N.Y., effectiveFebruary 6.  SI.com, which will remainthe exclusive sports content provider for CNN, will be hosted and maintained byCNN Internet technologies.  Alreadyheadquartered in N.Y., SI.com’s business operation will expand its sales forceand business development group (SI).


CHARTER COMMUNICATIONS TO CARRY COX SPORTS TV

MULTICHANNELNEWS reports that Cox Sports TV today reached a carriage deal with CharterCommunications, under which Charter “will make CST available to 11 Louisianasystems serving nearly 150,000 basic customers.”  CST airs Hornets games (MULTICHANNELNEWS, 12/9).


DRY CREEK VINEYARD TO BE OFFICIAL SPONSOR OF U.S. SAILING

U.S.Sailing today announced a two-year sponsorship agreement with Dry CreekVineyard, naming the winery an official sponsor.  The agreement provides Dry Creek with marketing rights as well asbenefits to select events.  Dry Creekwill use the partnership to support its Regatta label, and donate a portion ofthe proceeds from the label’s sales to U.S. Sailing programs (U.S. Sailing).


BUZZER BEATERS

Pumatoday announced a partnership with London-based Vexed Generation Clothing to introducetwo new apparel lines for the ’04 Autumn Collection: Martial Arts and UrbanMobility (Puma).

TheAP reports that Colorado District Judge Terry Ruckriegle today “rejecteda motion by the prosecution to seal any court filing related to evidence” inthe Kobe Bryant sexual assault case.  Instead, Ruckriegle ruled that attorneys can “file motions with ‘limitedfactual allegations’ about Bryant and his accuser that he might later ruleinadmissible at trial” (AP, 12/9).

ESPNtoday announced that “SportsCenter” anchor Linda Cohn will host theshow’s first live coverage of the X Games from a special set at Aspen/Snowmass,Colorado, on January 26-27.  Cohn willintroduce the final competition of two events during the 11:00pm ET edition of“SportsCenter” on each night (ESPN).

TheSports Network today announced that it will provide its full scope of contentto Reuters for use in all Reuters products (The Sports Network).

ESPNVideogames today announced an alliance with NTN Communications to introducesimulated game-play graphics into NTN’s QB1 predict-the-play football game onthe out-of-home NTN interactive Television Network (ESPN Videogames).

TheLondon INDEPENDENT reports that a Greek anti-terrorism court yesterday“convicted 15 members of the November 17 guerrilla group, including its chiefassassin and mastermind.”  The Greekgovernment, “under pressure to prove its security credentials before the Olympics,greeted the convictions with relief” (LondonINDEPENDENT, 12/9).

REUTERSreports that the U.S. House of Representatives yesterday “approvedlegislation that would tighten the national television ownership limit,preventing two networks from acquiring more local stations.  The new permanent cap would preventtelevision networks from owning local stations that collectively reach morethan 39% of the national audience.” Both News Corp.’s Fox and Viacom’s CBS are at that limit.  The Senate “must also vote for thecompromise” (REUTERS,12/9).
