Foot Locker Today Reports Q2 ’03 Sales Up 3.4% Over Year Ago Period

FOOT LOCKER TODAY REPORTS Q2 ’03 SALES OF MORE THAN $1.1B

FootLocker, in anticipation of its Q2 ’03 earnings announcement August 21, todayreported sales for the 13-week period ended August 2 of $1.122B, a 3.4%increase over $1.085B in the year ago period. Comparable store sales for the same period decreased 4.4%.  For the 26-week period ended on the samedate, sales of $2.249B also represented a 3.4% increase from $2.175B in theyear ago period.  However, comparablestore sales decreased only 3.5% (Foot Locker).


ESPN’S “SPORTSCENTER” EXPERIENCING SUSTAINED GROWTH

ESPN today reports that Q3 Nielsen ratings (June30-August 3) for live broadcasts of “SportsCenter” were up 18% over the yearago period.  Overall, including liveeditions and re-airs, the program was up 19% during the quarter.  In the previous quarter, the program was up8% for live telecasts, and up 7% overall. The previous 12 months ended August 3 saw a 17% ratings increase for liveeditions of “SportsCenter,” and a 13% jump among all presentations (ESPN).


A’S TO USE TICKETS.COM THROUGH ’09 FOLLOWING EXTENSION

The A’s today announced afive year-extension of their partnership with Tickets.com through the ’09season, opting to renew the agreement one year before their contractexpired.  Under the agreement, the A’swill add the Tickets.com Access Control functionality, which produces uniquelyidentifiable bar codes on each ticket (A’s).

The Wizards today announced that the team will hold training campin Charleston, SC, at the College of Charleston, marking the team’s firsttraining camp in SC.  The Wizards hostedtraining camp in Wilmington, NC, the past three seasons (Wizards).

YES Network today announced that Yankees games in Julyaveraged a 3.1 Nielsen rating (YES Network).

SpikeTV today announced that the opening game of the current SlamBall season onMonday night earned a 2.4/ (604,000 HHs) Nielsen cable rating in the male 18-34demographic (Spike TV).

TheECHL today announced that it has signed a three-year agreement with J. PattonSports Marketing to be the exclusive provider of hologram tags and stickers forECHL and team merchandise.  The tags andstickers serve as product authentication (ECHL).

TheHurricanes yesterday unveiled the official logo for the ’04 NHL Entry Draft,which will be held June 25-26, 2004 at the RBC Center (Hurricanes).

Ceridiantoday announced an agreement with Minnesota Sports & Entertainment toprovide human resource services to the organization via its Web-enabled suiteof solutions, including payroll and tax filing (Ceridian).

U.S.ski areas tallied a record 57.6 million skier/snowboarder visits during the’02-03 season, besting the ’01-02 total of 57.3 million visits (National SkiAreas Association).
