PRIME TIME: ESPN MOVES NHL TO WEDNESDAY NIGHTS

The AP reports the NHL and its broadcast partners are "retooling the TV lineup for next season." In the "biggest adjustment," ESPN will move 25 of its 27 "National Hockey Night" games to Wednesdays, rather than "scattering them around the week" (AP, 7/11).


REEBOK & 20TH CENTURY FOX TEAM UP ON "APES" PROMO

Reebok and Twentieth Century Fox have teamed up for a "Planet of the Apes" promotional partnership. In the newest addition to Reebok’s "Classic" campaign, the print ad shows the Ape Commander wearing a pair of Reeboks (THE DAILY).










NOT DROPPING ANCHOR: SPORTSLINE & AOL STILL PARTNERS

AOL and SportsLine.com extended their online relationship which provides SportsLine.com-produced features to AOL members and visitors to other AOL brands. CBS SportsLine will continue as an anchor tenant on the AOL Sports Channel, and will receive promotion across AOL’s interactive brands. Meanwhile, with the announcement of its five-year deal for the NFL’s Internet rights, SportsLine.com’s stock is up $0.32, or 21.6% to $1.80 during this afternoon’s trading (THE DAILY).


WILL WANG GET HIS WISH WITH BEIJING GAMES?

Mavericks C Wang Zhizhi "threw his considerable weight behind" Beijing’s ‘08 Olympic bid today, saying, "Beijing will be the greatest fun for athletes. They'll get the best food and the best living conditions. Why not let Beijing hold the Olympics?" (AP, 7/11).

Organizers of Edmonton’s ’01 World Championships in Athletics are including condoms in the welcome bags they’ll hand out to the athletes. Spokesman Randy Kilburn says, "approximately 30,000 (condoms) are available to be placed in the bags" (EDMONTON SUN, 7/11)….In an attempt to land prize free-agent F Chris Webber, the Knicks have been sending him gift packages. Webber "has received a big duffel bag with the inscription ‘Pack your bags for Madison Square Garden,’ a Fannie Pack with a Knicks' water bottle, and a model replica of ‘The World's Most Famous Arena’" (N.Y. POST, 7/11)….’00 Olympic Gold Medal winner Rulon Gardner is starting "The Miracle on the Mat Foundation." The foundation seeks to prevent disease through nutrition, exercise and healthy living (THE DAILY)….The Double-A New Britain Rock Cats on July 22nd will unveil a "two-headed" bobblehead doll featuring manager Stan Cliburn and his brother Stu, who is the team’s pitching coach (DESERET NEWS, 7/10)…The AP reports ME-based American Skiing secured new terms for its $165M loan Tuesday. The company had been given three extensions to renegotiate the loans and gain approval form the lenders on the new terms (AP, 7/11).

The Triple A All-Star game will air on ESPN2 at 8:00pm ET.
