Moreno out of Angels' team montage after opening night boos

Angels owner Arte Moreno's appearance in the team’s pregame montage “had been nixed” on Saturday and Sunday after “fans let him hear it” when he showed up in the video during Friday’s home opener, according to Sam Blum of THE ATHLETIC. The rest of the six-minute montage “appears largely untouched.” The anger directed at Moreno on Friday “was unambiguous,” and he was “in attendance to witness it.” The team for years has played highlights from its history to the soundtrack of Train’s “Calling All Angels.” Moreno previously has been a “staple of that montage,” as a video of Moreno “holding his own jersey up at a press conference has long been mixed into other highlights that include no-hitters, playoff wins, celebrations of the franchise’s all-time greats and even just nostalgic images of fans twirling stuffed monkeys in the air” (THE ATHLETIC, 4/8).
