Rangers' first World Series rings sparkle with more than 450 gems each

The Rangers’ first World Series championship rings are “loaded” with “more than 450 diamonds, sapphires, and rubies,” according to Evan Grant of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. The rings were designed by Jason of Beverly Hills, marking the jeweler's “first World Series ring” as well. They feature a “removable top, inside which is homage the Rangers’ MLB-record 11-straight postseason road wins, and a fleck of a World Series baseball, too.” Inside the reversible-topped ring are “all the logos from the teams the Rangers beat in the postseason.” In fact, those logos are “arranged to spell out R-O-A-D (Rays, Orioles, Astros, Diamondbacks) to account for all 11 road wins.” There is a “tribute to the club’s postseason motto ‘Went and Took It,’” and also an “alternate top to the ring for when players would like red to be the more prominent color” (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 3/30).

DIAMONDS DANCING: USA TODAY’s Victoria Hernandez noted each member of the Rangers had the “option of the bedazzled ‘T’ logo with 49 points of rubies to represent the 49 players on the active roster against a white baseball background” or to flip it for a “sparkly blue background that features 103 sapphires to signify the season's win total.” The 23 red rubies around the "T" “commemorate the year the team won,” and the 11 stones in the letter itself “represent the 11 wins on the road that Texas captured en route to the World Series title.” The phrase "World Champions" is “written around the face,” and the second word is made up of 52 points of diamonds to “signify the number of years since the Rangers were established.” There are also 72 points of diamonds around the ring, “symbolizing the year 1972 when the team first played in the Lone Star State after moving to Arlington from Washington, D.C.” The border's design “mimics the rafters” at Globe Life Field (USA TODAY, 3/30).
