Pro Padel League unveils broadcast, streaming plan for 2024 season-opening events

PPL co-founder & Commissioner Marcos Del Pilar said that the league produces its broadcasts with production partner Grup MediaProTracy Briggs-Troncoso/Pro Padel League

The Pro Padel League will today announce the broadcast and streaming distribution plan for its two 2024 season-opening events in Miami this month (April 2-7, 9-14).

That slate will include live coverage by MSG, FOX USA Español and CaffeineTV in the U.S., Eurovision Sport in Europe, TV Azteca in Mexico, Claro Sports in Mexico and South America, and DAZN in more than 200 countries. Additionally, Game+ will stream the semifinals and finals for each event live in the U.S. and Canada, Bally Sports will carry those rounds on tape delay and the PPL’s YouTube channel will carry all action live.

“The reach is insane,” said PPL co-founder & Commissioner Marcos Del Pilar. “We are close to [being available in] 200 million households all over the globe.”

The PPL produces its broadcasts with production partner Grup MediaPro, and is not yet taking rights fees from distributors, Del Pilar said. Each of the above partners is signed on for the PPL’s entire 2024 season, although Pilar said he is expecting interest from additional networks following the Miami events. Entering its second season of operation, the league is up to 10 franchises (from seven in 2023) and aiming to add another four-to-six for 2025, Del Pilar added.

Del Pilar stressed elevating the PPL’s product, production and reach as primary objectives for 2024. The PPL offers VIP and premium seating packages for sale but admits general attendants to its events for free. After staging its 2023 season in Tampa, this year’s schedule also includes two events in L.A. in August, a season final in N.Y. in November and an All-Star game at an undisclosed location in December.

"The first year we were simply focused on creating a television product,” Del Pilar said, noting that padel needed to be introduced to the American audience. “Now, the main goal is elevating the production, but also bringing padel to the masses.”
