Queensland denies looking at dropping Brisbane '32

The Queensland government has "denied claims that it investigated pulling out of hosting" the 2032 Brisbane Games. A report released yesterday said that the cost and legal implications of pulling completely "were considered before deciding that it was best to continue with the project." A spokesperson for the government of Queensland Premier Steven Miles said, "The Government has never sought advice about cancelling the Games. We have always said Queensland would deliver a great Games. Not once did the Government ever have the intention to cancel the Games. We have decided not to spend $3.4 billion on a new stadium" (London TELEGRAPH, 3/20).
