A Madrid judge "heard arguments for and against the Super League" today, less than three months after the European Union’s top court said UEFA and FIFA "acted unlawfully to block" the rebel competition. The judge "heard new arguments by the parties promoting and opposing the competition," and is "expected to make a ruling in a few weeks" (AP, 3/14).

The 13th African Games are in full swing in Ghana, but the high cost of hosting the event "amid a time of economic turmoil" has "brought scrutiny." An outlay of almost $250M has been "committed on the multi-sport event," with the government opposition "declaring it a 'misplaced priority' for a nation which is heavily indebted, enduring high rates of inflation and suffering the effects of the regional cost of living crisis" (BBC.com, 3/14).

EFL League One side Reading FC owner Dai Yongge has "agreed to sell the club's Bearwood Park training ground" to the Wycombe Wanderers. The state-of-the-art facility only opened five years ago but it is "set to be offloaded as part of Reading's efforts to cut costs amid financial troubles" (YORKSHIRE POST, 3/14).
