Atlantic 10 moving conference HQ to D.C.

The Atlantic 10 is moving its headquarters from Newport News, Va. to D.C. after signing on for “about 5,000 square feet in the National Center for Higher Education Building,” according to Drew Hansen of the WASHINGTON BUSINESS JOURNAL. The space will include a "media production studio -- a first for the conference -- and will eventually house 15 employees.” A-10 Commissioner Bernadette McGlade said that the new HQ will “allow the conference to be more efficient with its travel and conference meetings,” with the bonus of “being based in a top-10 media market." Hansen noted D.C. is at the "geographic center of the A-10’s member schools,” and the move makes it the “only athletics conference based in the District.” D.C. Interim Mayor for Planning & Economic Development Keith Anderson said that his office “began engaging the Atlantic 10 in the spring of 2022 about making the move.” Hansen noted the conference will “begin moving into the new space in November and will complete the move by June 2024." The A-10 had been headquartered in Newport News since 2009 (WASHINGTON BUSINESS JOURNAL, 9/7).
