The PWHL named the GMs of its six founding franchises ahead of the start of the league’s initial free agency period this afternoon. The group includes Bruins Player Development and Scouting Assistant DANIELLE MARMER (Boston), former U.S. Olympian NATALIE DARWITZ (Minnesota), former Canadian national team coach DANIELE SAUVAGEAU (Montreal), junior hockey GM PASCAL DAOUST (N.Y.), NHL Coaches’ Association Exec Dir MICHAEL HIRSHFELD (Ottawa) and Hockey Canada VP/Hockey Operations GINA KINGSBURY (Toronto). Each of the league’s teams can sign up to three players before Sept. 10, after which the majority of the league’s players will be selected in an entry draft on Sept. 18 (Alex Silverman, SBJ).
The Dodgers named Showtime Networks VP/Corporate Public Relations JON WEISMAN VP/Communications. Weisman will drive external and internal communications strategies for all aspects of the organization, including an expanding number of consumer and fan-facing opportunities. He will also oversee strategic planning and the daily operation of the Dodgers’ communications department in its work with the media and partners in and around baseball (Dodgers).
