Australian Sportsbook PlayUp Raises $25 M to Enter U.S.

PlayUp, an Australian sportsbook and fantasy sports operator, announced a $25 million funding round to expand into the U.S. The company has secured approval to launch its mobile sports betting app in Colorado and New Jersey.

Former Sportradar U.S. deputy president Laila Mintas is serving as PlayUp’s U.S. CEO. She recently spoke at Sports Capital Symposium, the September conference jointly produced by SportTechie and Monumental Sports.

PlayUp launched Australia’s first daily fantasy sports platform in 2015 and has since expanded into sports betting. It now touts more than 300,000 customers in Australia and India. Investorlink Securities, an investment firm based in Sydney, led the recent round of funding for PlayUp.
