Canada Tells the Toronto Blue Jays to Find a New Home in 2020

The Toronto Blue Jays are busy looking for a new temporary home after their plan to play the 2020 MLB season at Rogers Centre was rejected by the Canadian government. Though the Blue Jays had previously planned to use their spring training ballpark in Dunedin, Fla., if they couldn’t play in Canada, the rapid worsening of the coronavirus pandemic in Florida might make that problematic.

According to The Buffalo News, the Blue Jays have been considering a move to the home of their Triple-A affiliate in New York, the Buffalo Bisons, although that ballpark would require upgrades ahead of the opener against the Washington Nationals on July 29. Another option could be to share the home of an MLB rival. Blue Jays president Mark Shapiro told the AP that his team is still looking at other possibilities.
