Warriors Keep KNBR-AM
As Radio Flagship
The Warriors have signed a three-year contract extension with flagship radio station KNBR-AM, marking the team’s 30th season on the station. As part of the new deal, KNBR’s two AM stations will continue to serve as co-flagships for all Warriors broadcasts (Warriors).

ASTROS: In Houston, Jose de Jesus Ortiz notes Astros manager Phil Garner was “upset [team] broadcaster Bill Brown went on a national radio show and let it be known that [P] Andy Pettitte was injured and not going to start [last] night.” Astros broadcasters are given “special access” to the team as paid employees of the organization, and Astros Owner Drayton McLane “expects broadcasters not to give the competition or other folks the team’s secrets” (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 9/12).

CAVALIERS: In Cleveland, Roger Brown noted that “for years, [Cavaliers] fans could see as many as 40 regular-season games on ‘free TV’” –- WUAB-UPN. But this season, 70 Cavaliers games will be on FSN Ohio, five of which will be simulcast on WUAB. Cavs President Len Komoroski said that the “cable-heavy TV plan will allow more team fans -– both throughout Ohio and in parts of New York and Pennsylvania — to see games.” Komoroski: “We’ve become a team with a very strong regional fan base” (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 9/11).
