Glenn Wong

Distinguished Professor of Practice (Sports Law) & Executive Director of the Sports Law & Business Program, Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, Arizona State University

Glenn M. Wong is the Executive Director of the Sports Law & Business (SLB) Program and Distinguished Professor of Practice-Sports Law at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University (ASU). Wong has been at ASU since 2015, leading the Allan “Bud” Selig Sports Law and Business Program. The ASU program includes a Master’s Degree in Sports Law & Business, a concurrent Juris Doctorate and Master’s Degree, and the Veteran Sports Law & Business online program.

Wong is a Past President of the Sports Lawyers Association (SLA) and SLA Board member since 1998. Wong is Professor Emeritus at the Isenberg School of Management, University of Massachusetts. He was a professor and also a Department Head in the Sports Management program. Wong was the Interim Director of Athletics at the University of Massachusetts and a Dean in 1992-93. He served as the Faculty Athletics Representative to the NCAA from 1993-2013. Wong was a Visiting Scholar at Stanford University Law School in the spring of 2014, and then taught “Sports Law” in 2015.

Wong is an arbitrator for the National Football League and the National Football League Players Association, the Court of Arbitration for Sport, and the American Arbitration Association. He was an outside counsel to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference from 2014-17. Wong was also outside counsel for the Baltimore Orioles and the Boston Red Sox for salary arbitration cases.

Wong has authored several books and over 100 sport law articles and books, including co-authoring the first sports law casebook, The Law & Business of the Sports Industries. He is a frequent speaker, panelist, and moderator at professional organization meetings, sports law and business conferences, and law schools.

Wong received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Sociology at Brandeis University, where he co-captained the basketball team, and a Juris Doctorate degree from Boston College Law School.
