Sports & Society Reporter, WBUR and NPR

Shira Springer covers stories at the intersection of sports and society for NPR and WBUR. She also writes regular columns on women’s sports for theSports Business Journaland TheBoston Globeand features for a variety of publications. She has reported on all four major Boston professional teams, the NBA Finals, the World Series, the Super Bowl and the Winter and Summer Olympics. She served as the Globe’s Celtics beat writer for seven years. Her radio storytelling and sports writing, including coverage of the Celtics and the NBA, has won national awards. She contributed a chapter on the 1936 Berlin Olympics to the New York Times bestseller “Upon Further Review: The Greatest What-Ifs in Sports History” (2018, Twelve/Hachette Book Group). In addition to writing and working in public radio, she teaches sports journalism at Boston University.
