Alabama, CLC agree to long-term extension

Alabama and the Collegiate Licensing Company have agreed to a landmark extension.

The extension will run for 15 years, the longest contract extension in the history of CLC, and will begin at the conclusion of the current deal on July 1. No financial terms of the deal were disclosed.

Alabama was the first ever CLC client and has worked with the company since 1981. CLC is a division of Learfield. The partnership has included a number of programs that resulted in a handful of products and retail programs for Alabama fans in recent years. Those include:

  • College Vault -- A vintage-inspired product line utilizing Alabama’s vintage logos
  • Alabama Legends -- A brand identity developed to bring together product celebrating the success and history of Alabama Athletics
  • Bama Style -- An ongoing original social content series, launched in 2017, designed to create messaging about licensed product to fans through Alabama Athletics channels
  • Crimson Tide Outdoors -- A brand identity developed to curate existing and new product targeting Alabama fans who enjoy outdoor activities

Officially licensed Alabama branded merchandise is produced by nearly 600 licensees and carried in more than 3,500 retailers nationwide. Major brands licensed to make Alabama gear include Lululemon, Stewart Simmons and Wrangler, along with Nike, UA’s athletic sideline provider.
