Media Notes

In London, Kit Shepard reported the Women's Super League has "settled for a new one-year TV deal with Sky and the BBC after failing to convince buyers to meet its valuation.” The organization NewCo will take control of the WSL and Women’s Championship for the FA this summer, so by opting for a standalone deal for the 2024-25 campaign it can “try to negotiate better terms next year for the 2025-26 season and beyond.” The one-year agreement is an “extension of the present broadcasting structure, which involves Sky and the BBC sharing the rights.” That deal began in 2021 and is understood to be “worth about” $9M per season (London TIMES, 4/11).

FEATURED CROSSOVER: The HOLLYWOOD REPORTER’s Mesfin Fekadu reported Roc Nation, EverWonder Studios and 3 Legends Productions are “teaming up to produce a documentary series about the Entertainer’s Basketball Classic, the infamous streetball tournament in Harlem also known as the Rucker."  The series will include “never-before-seen footage" and will "highlight the beating heart of basketball culture, the stars of the historic era and the connection between Hollywood, hip-hop and Harlem.” Dorian “Black” Graham serves as Exec Producer for the project (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 4/11).
