Masters' new Map & Flag space getting rave reviews

The Masters

The Masters’ new Map & Flag hospitality venue made its debut this week across Washington Road, and sources who passed through the doors said the offering was in line with most everything else Augusta National does.

“It’s everything you would expect,” said one source from under the massive oak tree adjacent to Augusta National’s first tee. “Five-star dining, it’s really perfect.”

Passes to Map & Flag, which sources said went for $17,000 each, include access for the week as well as tournament badges. Inside the venue are dining options for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as official Masters merchandise.

Fare inside the massive venue includes beef brisket, smash burgers and a lobster roll that this reporter particularly enjoyed. Capacity inside hasn’t been disclosed, though some have called it “just the right amount.” The offering also includes a sports bar carrying tournament coverage.

Booths inside the venue are tied to individual Masters tournaments, with photos on the adjacent walls looking back to each year. Also inside are green jackets from years past on display, as well as the caddie uniform worn by Adam Hayes during Jon Rahm’s win last year.

Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley confirmed today there would be a “phase 2” to Map & Flag that will debut next year. Inside the venue, just outside the merchandise shop, are escalators going to the second floor with signs touting that second phase.

Map & Flag’s opening comes 11 years after ANGC opened Berckmans Place, the hospitality venue located on club grounds that many consider unrivaled in sports. Industry sources this week described a different overall vibe in Map & Flag than in Berckmans, with multiple saying the new venue was “more chill.”
