Victories a good-news story for FS1’s ‘Fox Sports Live’

The most surprising result to come out of last week’s Sports Emmy awards was the three statues won by FS1’s studio show “Fox Sports Live” — tied with Super Bowl 50 for the biggest haul awarded to a single program.

The Emmy wins must feel good for a show that drastically has been scaled back as the network centers its attention on opinion-based studio shows.

“Fox Sports Live” won the Short Feature Emmy for “Changing Lanes: The Siphiwe Baleka Story”; the Short Form Editing for “Between the Lines”; and the Long Form Editing for “Mr. 900: The Bill Fong Story.”

In fact, “Fox Sports Live” walked away with more Emmy awards this year than ESPN’s venerable “SportsCenter,” which won two: one for Short Sports Documentary for “SC Featured — No Excuses” and one for Spanish Studio Show for ESPN Deportes’ “SportsCenter Deportes.”

Surprisingly, “SportsCenter” was not even nominated for Daily Studio Show, a category that was won by MLB Network’s “MLB Tonight.”
